Goodmorning Rainbows & Revolutionaries,
Today is MAY 11th, a Sunday. And while the rest of the country may be wrapped up in brunches, balloons, and bedazzled greeting cards… over here in the Digital Kitchen, we doing something a little different.
We’re digging into the rootstock of Mother's Day.This ain’t about flowers—it’s about freedom.Not about pancakes—but power.Not just mamas—but movements.
Long before Hallmark had us scrambling for cards, the world was honoring mothers as healers, protectors, and truth-tellers. From Isis in Ancient Egypt to Black mamas in the 1800s stitching up wounds with one hand and rebellion with the other—Mother’s Day has always been deeper than a vase of roses.
Today, I’m honoring:
🖤 Mamie Till-Mobley, who cracked open the nation’s conscience🖤 Harriet Tubman, who mothered a whole freedom train🖤 Othermothers: aunties, elders, grandmamas, play cousins and next-door nurturers🖤 YOU—if you’ve ever held space, held someone up, or held it down for the sake of love and legacy
Whether you birthed babies, birthed dreams, or birthed revolutions—this day is for you.Even Julia Ward Howe knew it back in 1870 when she called on mothers to rise up for peace, not petals. And even Anna Jarvis, the woman who helped make this a national holiday in 1914, said miss her with the flowers and fake love. She wanted real care. Real intention. Real community.
So this Mother's Day, we not just giving thanks. We giving honor. We giving context. We giving radical recognition.
📣 To every Sister in this circle who’s ever poured into someone else with no receipt or reward—we see you.
📣 To every tender warrior, kitchen-top nurse, block historian, or soft place to land—we thank you.
📣 To everyone carrying the mother-force in their spirit—you are the root, the bloom, and the whole bouquet.

Yes !!!!!The mother force ❣️❣️❣️
