From the days of the Black Panther Party to today’s thriving Black-owned businesses, the city remains a pillar of innovation and economic power. As part of ROOTED 2025’s nationwide movement, this Freedom Route will take you through International Boulevard and Oakland’s Black business districts, celebrating the past, present, and future of Black economic strength in the Bay Area.
