New Orleans has always been a city of Black brilliance, resilience, and cultural wealth. From the Tremé neighborhood—the oldest Black community in the U.S.—to the historic 7th Ward, these districts have been at the forefront of Black business, music, and activism for generations. As part of ROOTED 2025’s nationwide movement, this Freedom Route will take you through Tremé and the 7th Ward, celebrating the past, present, and future of Black economic empowerment in New Orleans.
